PRESIDENT’S CORNER

I would like to extend a special THANK YOU to all our Affiliates for everything you do all year long and your continuing support. We certainly can not do it without you!

UPDATE ON WINTER REAL ESTATE CONFERENCE

I would first like to thank the people who went, for a good showing from Santa Cruz County: Marybeth Hughes, Kim Beedy, Diana Corrales, Esther Solis, Tina Totty and myself. I love going to the conferences because the sessions keep you updated on what’s new in the industry and the networking is great. Here are some brief notes:

  • Economists are saying that real estate sales in the 1st half of 2008 will be sluggish, 2nd half of 2008 will be better & 2009 is predicted to be better yet.
  • Commissioner Sam Wercinski said ADRE is looking at a new licensing apprenticeship to help educate the new licenses from the start.
  • NAR is looking to roll out the new credit union for REALTORS® and family in November. Look for the NAR commercial website that will be relaunched on May 12th   www.commercialsource.com  where you will be able to search commercial listings.
  • The RAPAC silent auction at the conference helped raise $17,500 for political candidates that support REALTOR® issues and private property rights.

40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FAIR HOUSING ACT

As America celebrates the 40th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act this month, REALTORS® continue to be outspoken advocates for fair housing, working with home buyers and sellers to ensure they receive equal access to affordable housing and homeownership.  For more information check out our website www.sccazrealtor.com under the Consumer Assistance- Diversity Health and Safety tab.
