Whether your community is grappling with transportation and land use issues, crowded schools, or open space, or working to bring vacant properties back to productive use, NAR's Smart Growth program has resources to help you and your association plant seeds that will pay dividends for years to come.
The National Association of Realtors® believes that transportation is a vitally important issue to communities and to the real estate industry, and is committed to keeping its members updated on the new challenges, issues and concepts in the field. In addition to a breadth of new and updated topics, we have included a glossary of transportation terms, FAQs, and NAR's official statement of policy. We hope you will find it informative and useful for advocacy in your own community
Schools are an important factor in a community's quality of life and are, therefore, an important factor in the business of real estate. "How are the schools?" is one of the most common questions fielded by real estate agents throughout the United States. By familiarizing themselves with issues that affect public education, real estate agents can be better prepared to make a difference in their schools and communities. NAR has produced this toolkit to help REALTORS® enhance their knowledge and understanding of the public school system so they can become involved in improving their schools and communities.
REALTORS® are in a unique position when it comes to water infrastructure issues. They see the situation from all sides, whether it’s fighting for water rights for a development; keeping on top of local, state, and federal regulations so they can inform their customers; or tracking the effect of water availability on the value of area real estate. Real estate professionals often find themselves in the thick of water battles, and must explain local water requirements to property buyers and answer their questions about water supply and quality.
